Long Bio

Alicia Schwab (a-LEE-sha SHH-wab) (she/her) is an award-winning illustrator and designer of more than nine empowering books in multiple genres in Germany and the USA. Alicia grew up in a southern Wisconsin family with a motley assortment of pets (including a toucan). She spent all her free time exploring the surrounding forest, climbing trees, building forts, and drawing with her older brother. But when her sister refused to share her illustrated children's magazine, Alicia was encouraged to write and illustrate her own stories. That spark later led Alicia to acquire a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and co-founded a graphic design firm in Hannover, Germany. Alicia supports those with a broad spectrum of backgrounds and experiences and strives to create quality literature that reflects the lives of all children. She advocates autism and learning differences and specializes in heartfelt stories about overcoming hardships, no matter how big or small.
